Magnetic Drum
- How they work: A revolving stainless steel or non-magnetic outer shell turns around a fixed, stationary inner magnet (often shaped like a half-moon).
- Separation process: Incoming bulk material flows over the drum; magnetic/ferrous pieces stick to the shell surface while the drum rotates, carrying the metal past the magnetic field where it drops separately.
- Common uses: Used in recycling, scrap yards, mining, and food processing to protect crushers and purify non-magnetic product streams.
- Magnet types: Built using permanent ferrite, rare-earth neodymium, or electric coils depending on required pull strength
