Our food-grade plate magnets are widely used in food processing and manufacturing lines where direct contact with edible items requires strict adherence to hygiene standards. Positioned at the bottom of chutes or above conveyor belts, these magnets effectively capture ferrous contaminants to protect product quality and downstream machinery.

Product Types & Applications
- Flush Face: Delivers optimal tramp metal separation when installed above material flows in chutes or conveyors. Powerful magnetic coverage continuously lifts ferrous debris out of the product stream, protecting downstream equipment.
- Exposed Pole: Engineered for high-performance tramp metal separation in lower-volume, below-the-flow applications where products pass directly over the face of the magnet.
- Spout Magnets: Designed for high-volume chute setups where product “wash-off” is a concern. Features a primary diverter to prevent captured metal from washing back into the stream, and a secondary diverter that ramps product smoothly over the chute edge to minimize damage.
- Self-Cleaning Spout Magnets: Provides automated ferrous metal removal in chutes using remote pneumatic operation. Air cylinders swing the plate magnets and spout face away from the chute, disengaging the spout face to cleanly drop collected tramp iron into a discharge area before returning to the operating position.
- Rare Earth (Neodymium) Spout Magnets: Built with ultra-strong rare-earth magnets to separate fine or weakly magnetic iron particles in dry or wet streams. Features two liquid-tight diverters to prevent wash-off and comes in two strength options to match your chute dimensions.
- Flat Conveyor Plate Magnets: Ideal for wide conveyors and installed upstream of packaging machinery. Measuring 6-3/16″ long (along the flow path) by 1-5/16″ thick, these units are available in custom widths and varying strengths. They are widely used for single-layer items such as cookies, crackers, chips, pretzels, textiles, and fiberglass.
Construction & Working Principle
An industrial plate magnet features a simple yet robust design: a flat rectangular or square steel faceplate backed by powerful rare-earth or permanent magnets. Units can be custom-manufactured in custom lengths, widths, and thicknesses to meet your specific setup requirements.
- Placement: Below-the-flow placement is often preferred because heavy iron particles naturally settle to the bottom. However, mounting above the material stream is equally effective when placed as close to the flow as possible.
- Angled Installations: For chutes or gutters sloped at 45-degree angles, magnets are mounted along the slant. Depending on expected contamination levels, installing two to three consecutive plate magnets is recommended.
- Self-Cleaning Action: Remote or automated self-cleaning models work by pulling the internal magnetic field back from the contact face, allowing trapped metal particles to release automatically.
